Large 8vo. 9 x 6 inches. xx + 312 pp. Bound in original dark blue cloth with blind stamped borders and gilt blocks. Some pages uncut. Rough cut edges. A little wear to extremities and light browning of flyleaves; otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by sepia frontispiece etching with tissue guard and by numerous text figures. Decorated by title page vignette. Well illustrated account of the City of Westminster including the Palace, the Abbey and the streets and people. Walter Besant (1836-1901) was a novelist and historian of London. The first edition was published in 1895.
