A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Ex-Folkestone Public Library with pictorial bookplate and library stamps. Illustrated by over 100 pages of sepia plates, including frontispiece and 5 maps, and by text figures. An extensively illustrated history of Kent mills, with historical notes on known sites past and present. Part I of 42 pages is concerned with watermills and Part II, the majority of the text, with windmills, listed alphabetically in the Historical Notes gazetteer section. First Edition of the classic 1933 work by William Coles Finch (1864-1944), a Medway waterworks engineer who published a number of books on the history and topography of Kent.
