Folio. 8.5 x 10.75 inches. [18] + [216] pp. unpaginated. Separate title page for South Wales but register is continuous. Bound in original dark green cloth with green morocco title label, gilt on front board. Extremities worn and front hinges starting to crack; some foxing, largely confined to plate margins. Inscription, The Misses Clough and bookseller's label, Harding and Prichard, Booksellers and Binders, Chester on front pastedown. Illustrated by 2 engraved title pages and 102 pages of engraved steel plates, two to a page. These two volumes in one formed Vol. 5-6 of Jones' Views of the Seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, [1829]-1830. Henry Gastineau (1790/91-1876) who drew the plates was a landscape painter in water colour who also made numerous contributions to topographical publications.
