8vo. 9.25 x 6.25 inches. [viii} + 162 + [1] pp. Bound in original orange cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has edge loss, including head and tail of spine. Lower part of boards damp stained, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 7 full page drawings, including frontispiece and by endpiece vignette. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of title. A collection of sixteen short stories, whose authors include Walter de la Mare and Henry Miller. Edited by Denys Val Baker (1917-84), Welsh born novelist and short story writer, who in the 1950s moved to Cornwall, where he found inspiration for many of his later books, including autobiographical works. Illustrated by Sheila Jackson (1922-2011), artist, illustrator and later costume designer.
