There is a firing crack effecting the right hand lower boarder but this is not disfiguring, no maker's mark only the RD number 63164 and a number 5 however the plate has been identified to be by Wallis Grimson the Staffordshire manufacturer.

Wonderfully patriotic octagonal earthenware plate made to commemorate the golden jubilee in 1887. the design emphasises the extent of the british empire and the prosperity with lists of values of imports £390,018,569 and exports £295,967,583 as well as population 305,347,924 and total area 9,101,699 sq.miles around a central clock motif is the motto: the empire on which the sun never sets.
Item Description
The decoration is black lithographic transfer against a white ground, with some coloured highlights and gilding to emphasise parts of the design. It includes a central Group of figures representing the Empire, Britannia placed centrally with a lion and unicorn with flags, the crests of Canada, Australia, India and the Cape Colony, portrait heads of Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales and a double hemisphere map of the world with British possessions marked in red and the plate has a gilt rim.
