Volume I, [6] + 592 pp.; Volume II, [4] + 623 + [9] pp. Index to Dunciad.; Volume III, [12] + 532 pp.; Volume IV, [20] + 500 pp.; Volume V, [4] + 456 pp. Separate half titles for each work. Bound in early tree calf with decorative gilt borders on boards; spines in compartments with raised bands, elaborately decorated gilt, with contrasting red and green title labels, gilt. Inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Extremities have wear consistent with age, including heads and tails of spines. Occasional scattered foxing, one margin stain and three margin tears, that in Vol. III, p. 203-4, touching text but neatly repaired; otherwise a very good clean crisp set. Later armourial bookplates. Illustrated by 2 engraved portrait frontispieces, one engraved plates and one engraved headpiece. Decorated by headpiece vignette of Royal Arms and by tailpiece vignettes. Quarto edition in five volumes of the works, including letters, of Alexander Pope appearing in 1769. Edited by the writer, Owen Ruffhead (1723-69), who also compiled the Life in Volume V.
