Ex-library copy with stamps, etc. Extremities worn, hinges starting to crack and flyleaves browned; otherwise a very good copy with clean interior. ink note on verso of title. Illustrated by colour frontispiece protected by tissue guard, vignette title, and by 61 pages of plates in black and white and colour, including two folding. Account of the development of colour printing in England during the nineteenth century, including lithography and chromolithography. Much of the content of the work is concerned with the process of the colour printer George Baxter, and the licences he granted to the firms of Le Blond and Co. and Bradshaw and Blacklock.
