Illustrated by 49 photographs and 70 figures, including maps, in text. Monograph study of medieval settlement on the Sharon Plain of Palestine, with a gazetteer of sites, followed by accounts of the 1983 excavations and analysis of finds at the Red Tower, a small castle. By Denys Pringle (b.1951), archaeologist and medieval scholar specialising in Crusader era Palestine. From 1979-84 he was Assistant Director of the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem and was later Principal Inspector of Ancient Monuments for the Historic Buildings ands Monuments Directorate, Scotland. 1986-99.
