4to, in sixes. 10 x 12.5 inches. xxviii + 686 pp. Text in double columns. Bound in half black morocco, gilt over brown boards; Spine in compartments with gilt bands. Some wear to extremities and scattered foxing; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 55 plates, 30 of which are chromolithograph, including frontispiece and engraved vignette title and numerous wood engravings in text. Copy lacks five plates, not bound in, nos. 28,44-46 and 49. Decorated by publisher's and printer's devices on title page and verso and by head and tailpiece vignettes.
