Illustrated by 12 drawings by John Piper, including frontispiece. Map endpapers. The first Folio Society edition of the classic work of literature and natural history by Gilbert White (1720-93), which has never been out of print since its first appearance in 1789. Written in the form of letters addressed to Thomas Pennant and Daines Barrington. Edited by Walter Sidney Scott (1900-80) and illustrated by the artist, John Piper (1902-92).
