Marguerite of Angoulême (1492-1549) was the Queen consort of Henry II, King of Navarre and sister of Francis 1, King of France. Her collection of 72 tales of love, lust and infidelity are set in a context of eight days of narration. First printed in 1558, this translation is from the authentic text of of Le Roux de Lincy (1806-69) and was first issued by the Society of English Bibliophilists in 1894, edited by Ernest A. Vizetelly (1853-1922).
