Illustrated by 44 pages of plates, including 2 plate sections with 32 pages of plates and 3 plans, one folding. A well illustrated study of the harem and Grand Seraglio in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul with particular reference to the institutional and physical structure of the women's quarters.
