FIRST EDITION. Oblong 4to. 9.5 x 12.5 inches. 80 pp. Bound in original unbleached linen, gilt, with black block on front board. A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by 70 pages of captioned caricature pen and ink drawings with facsimile handwriting, including frontispiece portrait of artist. Sir Frank Lockwood (1846-97) was a successful barrister made Q.C. 1882 and recorder of Sheffield, !884 (see p. 56), who became a Liberal politician, sitting as MP for the City of York, 1885-97. He produced pen and ink caricature sketches of humorous incidents to amuse himself and his friends and was a contributor to Punch.
