Large 8vo. 319 + [1] pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, with blind stamped borders on front board and gilt block on spine. A little wear to extremities, including head and tail of spine and faint water stains on rear board. Light foxing of edges and blank first free endpaper has been removed; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by frontispiece and by 30 pages of black and white photographic plates. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Historical account of hunting and sporting dogs with a discussion of the breeds. James Wentworth (1899-1983), author and journalist, associated with East Anglia, was known for High Tory views of the Agrarian Right. He published about forty books, including titles on the Fens, Broads and eastern counties, sport, farming and country matters and on the use of pesticides, to which he was opposed.
