Sermon preached during the difficult times of the American Revolution and world wide war against the European powers: 'The fire which, in the last century, preyed on the vitals of the constitution, has been suppressed, but is not extinguished. It has lately broken out beyond the Atlantic, laying waste the wide extremity of the empire, and sparks of it are appearing in the British isles, which opportunity would blow into a flame.' Andrew Geeenfield (1749/50-1788) held a living in the Church of Ireland since 1777 and was a Prebendary of the Diocese of Raphoe, County Donegal but was obviously resident in Scotland at the time of his sermon, preached in the Episcopal Church of Edinburgh. Greenfield's poems were published in Edinburgh in 1790. A very scarce title; ESTC records only two copies, in the National Library of Scotland and at the University of Kansas.
