FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 6.75 x 8.5 inches. viii + 87 pp. Bound in original pictorial cloth with red and black titles. A little wear to extremities, but otherwise a very good copy. July 1888 signature on front pastedown. Illustrated by 14 plates of cartoon drawings and by sketch at beginning of preface. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A verse political satire on Gladstone's Irish Home Rule Policy by Charles Larcom Graves (1856-1944), the uncle of Robert Graves, Irish born writer and satirist, largely resident in England, where he was a Punch staff writer. The cartoons are by George Roland Halkett (1855-1918), artist, editor, political cartoonist and also a Punch contributor. A copy of the scarce first edition.
