8vo. 8 x 5.25 inches. 155 + [1] pp. Bound in original quarter blue cloth, gilt, over cream boards with red title and facsimile signature, in matching dust wrapper (with publisher's advertisement on rear wrapper) which has sunned spine with small missing section in centre; otherwise a very good clean copy with minor wear to tail of spine. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. The Anglo-Irish author was a Captain in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers during the First World War and was wounded in the Easter Rising of 1916. His literary style make these short stories quite distinctive Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, eighteenth Baron Dunsany (1878-1957) was educated at Eton and Sandhurst and outside the army, decided to follow a literary career, becoming a prolific writer of plays short stories and novels, including fantasy works. He later lived chiefly in Shoreham, Kent. Reprint in the year of first publication.
