An exciting view of the town and harbour with an S.E.R. steam packet leaving for Boulogne in a gale - the parish church looks down over the detailed picture of the inner harbour. This first issue of the plate, published as the Stationers' Company Almanack in 1858 as evidenced by the engraved title, is the most difficult to find as it was the illustration at the top of a calendar for that year and was usually discarded at year's end.
Reissued without a title in 1883 in a cumulative volume, using all the plates of the Almanack's previous fifty years. Issued again in the early 20th century with the addition of the title Folkestone and Mail Steam Packet in 1850. **We have examples of all these issues in stock.
