Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Scottish novelist, William Boyd (b.1952) was selected by the estate of Ian Fleming to write the next Bond novel, which is set in Africa in 1969, based on Fleming's statement that Bond was born in 1924. Boyd, born in Accra is the author of two successful early novels with an African setting, A Good Man in Africa (1981) and An Ice-Cream War (1982).
