Folio. 14 x 10.5 inches. 36 pp. + [4] pp. publisher's advertisements. Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, spine rebacked preserving original, blind stamped borders on rear boards, and gilt and black on front board enclosing decorated title. Bevelled edges to boards, all page edges gilt. Extremities worn, edges of frontispiece chipped and occasional marginal foxing; otherwise a very good copy. crossed out signatures on recto of frontispiece. Illustrated by 16 plates, 15 chromolithograph, including frontispiece, lithographed title and colour chart, 15 mounted, protected by blank paper guard sheets. Chromolithograph plates of picturesque scenery, from watercolours by Aaron Penley (1807-70), landscape and watercolour artist. First published 1868 or 69.
