A well-illustrated account of a voyage around the world to Asia, Australasia and North America. John Dale (1869-1926) set sail from Tilbury aboard the Orient Line steamship Ophir, sailing on her maiden voyage in November 1891, and returning to Liverpool from New York, in July 1892. The Ophir, a twin-screw, triple-expansion steamer of 6,184 tons, sailed between London, Colombo, Melbourne and Sydney, served as an armed merchant cruiser and hospital ship between 1915-18 and was scrapped in 1922.
