Signed by author on title page. Decorated by device on half title. An attack on the Community Charge, called the Poll Tax, as both inefficient and anachronistic, based on the Scottish experience of it before its extension into the rest of the UK. Following popular discontent and the Poll Tax Riots of 1990, it was replaced by the Council Tax. By Douglas Dunn (b.1942), Scottish poet, who received his higher education at the University of Hull, where he worked in the Brynmor Jones Library under the librarian and poet, Philip Larkin. He was Professor of English Literature at the University of St Andrews, 1991-2008.
