Notes
The author received an award to write this work in the series of The Bridgewater Treatises on the power wisdom and goodness of God as manifested in the creation. Its underlying views are pre-Darwinian, based on the author's concept of natural theology and he surveys creation in the light of its adaptation to the physical needs of man. John Kidd (1775-1851) was a physician who spent his career at the University of Oxford, holding several chairs, notably that of Regius Professor of Medicine.
