4to. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. 333 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, with contrasting brown title label and white titles, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper which has sunned spine. Minor wear to extremities and three pages with small edge tears at front neatly repaired; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 8 black and white plates. Decorated by title page vignette. Biography of Dorothy Jordan (1761-1816), the famous comic actress, by biographer, Brian Fothergill (1921-90). For twenty years she lived with the Duke of Clarence, later William IV, by whom she had ten children, 1794-1807. An appendix lists her roles, 1785-1809.
