First impression. v + 336 pp. The front free endpaper is inscribed in green ink 'To Hugh Fisher With the Author's sincere thanks... after many years! J.A. Hammerton'. The story of this inscription is told in a typed letter and a hand-written note to A. Hugh Fisher, author, poet and painter. A poem of his is quoted in the text of 'Memories of Books and Places' and this small correspondence shows how Hammerton was influenced by it and how he came to give this copy to Fisher.
