Original issue of this newspaper containing a fascinating variety of notices and advertisements on the front page; the inside and back pages are a mixture of national and Kentish news and a Corn Exchange section which supplies corn and other commodity prices. Covent Garden Theatre closed for the season with performances of Hamlet and the pantomime of Mother Goose. Sir Charles Wolseley of Stockport was indicted for inciting 'tumult and insurrection' and 'as might be expected, has a remarkably wild look.' A meeting at Smithfield to urge reform, including Universal Suffrage, Annual Election and Vote by Ballot, was addressed by (Orator) Hunt. West Kent Quarter Sessions at Maidstone sentenced numerous individuals for theft (e.g. one velveteen jacket, one pair of trowsers, one cotton gown, two shirts, one round frock and handkerchief, five geese, coals, etc. The provision, and possible enlargement of bathing machines at Margate and Ramsgate was discussed.
