The new pier.
Item Description
Original Oil Painting on artists board 12 x 4 inches in original frame. Signed and dated on verso. In very good condition. A charming study of the 'New Pier' from the shingle beach looking down the pier to the small light house at the end. A lady and child walking down the pier passing a flag-staff flying the Union-Jack. This pier was constructed in the early 1870s to enable steamers to dock at low water when the harbour was dry and was in use until the harbour arm was built at the beginning of the 20th. century.
