Notes
Lavishly produced and illustrated account of Cowdray and Easebourne near Midhurst by the antiquary, William Henry St. John hope (1854-1919). It includes some notable engravings of the campaigns of Henry VIII at Calais and Boulogne, made in 1788, before the originals were destroyed in the Cowdray fire of 1793. A full description of the lost artworks is provided in chapter IV.
