The text comprises correspondence between all the parties concerned with the promotion and consideration of the Bills to construct a tunnel. The papers have been divided into three periods, 1867 to 1870, 1871 to 1876, and 1880 to 1882. The table of contents sets out all the items with their date, sender and recipient and includes all the government departments involved, the two railway companies and their chairmen, Sir Edward Watkin and James Staats Forbes, and various military and engineering experts. Scarce.
