Notes
Denholm's Tour is a separately published version of The history of the City Of Glasgow & Suburbs, To which is added a Sketch Of a Tour...,third edition, 1804 (first published as An Historical and Topographical Description of the City of Glasgow, 1797). This version lacks the engravings of The History but includes a Map of Loch Lomond, Loch Long, Part of Loch Fyne, Loch Goyle and the Gair Loch with the Roads and Distances from Dumbarton to Inverary, thence by Arroquhar to Greenock, engraved by Denholm for this work.
James Denholm (1772-1818) of Glasgow, was a topographer landscape and and miniature painter. The Tour includes the the Scottish lochs and towns depicted in the map, with an account of the city of Glasgow, of the south western border counties and of the English Lakes.
